Life skills 4 children
Start date: Apr 1, 2013,

The Life skills 4 children project is an EVS which involves 3 partners from Romania and 1 partner from Ghana and will take place in Jasikan city in the Volta region, in Ghana. In the project a number of 15 volunteers will be selected out of which 10 will be with fewer opportunities (3 from each sending partner, specially because one NGO represents the polish minority in Romania and another one comes from a region which is a big Roma community and all of them have the same problem: discrimination ) and who will participate to the specific activities carried out by an orphanage from the local community. In this way the volunteers will help the children develop the life skills that parents would normally teach, as well as understanding the role of personal hygiene and bodily care for a healthier life style. The activities will try to achieve the following:-Promoting a healthy life, volunteering and non-formal education as tools for mutual understanding across cultures.-Developing the solidarity and mutual understanding between the young people belonging to different cultures.-Acknowledging the needs of the orphan children and the problems generated by the absence of the parental figure to offer guidance. To achieve these objectives, the young volunteers will participate in activities such as: organizing drawing, dance, sporting activities and theatre for the small ones workshops, all alongside the children. They will also participate, alongside the children, in activities to bring the area in which the orphanage is located towards a more ecological standard, so that they will contribute in stimulating interest and understanding of the importance of a healthy life style. In this manner the volunteers will be responsible for promoting the values and principles of the EU but also ensure the thorough dissemination of the project’s results.
