PROJECT
FINISHED
"Life Scripts" is a 7 days Youth Exchange involving 7 European countries, born like our previous projects in an European context, driven by the constantly changing society we find ourselves in. The title of the exchange is worthy also of the subtitle "a journey in motion", because it sums up what this project is about: it is a journey of self-discovery, self-reflection and re-definition, through storytelling, body movement and media.
The group for this exchange will be comprised of 35 young people, aged between 18 and 30 years old, with an interest in the theme of the project. Since the exchange explores the concept of identity, self-image and the roles we play in our lives, we are looking to involve people with a need to explore these aspects of themselves through media and art tools : unemployed people, new-comers to a country, people from minorities, people with a different sexual orientation, people who are in a period of their life when they feel like they need to redefine themselves and re-position themselves in society. These young people will come from Ireland, Germany, France, Hungary, Greece, Serbia and The Netherlands.
One of the most important objectives of this exchange is to create the safe space for the participants to freely express themselves, to experience different roles and discover abilities and skills through stories and storytelling - to rewrite their life scripts. We designed a program of seven days that can represent 7 stages of change that participants can go through, using different tools and methodologies, like learning by experience, reflection and feedback. The tools have been specifically picked with our partners in order that they enable the participants to reach in this exchange their personal goals and offer the opportunity to obtain specific skills and attitudes (intangibles) to take with them and use back home. The project aims for better changes in the lives of the participants and it is meant to act as a demo of how these changes can happen and what they could bring. As a plus, we plan to make accessible via the web a small publication with content from the project, in order to share knowledge of tools and methodologies and empower the participants in the long term to plan their own projects and initiatives in their communities, without having to start from zero.
