Three organizations are involved in the project "Liepaja Marine College VET student's internship":1) Liepaja Marine College ( LMC), which is the first level higher professional education and third level vocational education institution;2) Kiel youth traditional sailing ship society ( Kiel society), which is dealing with social work with youth, provides them opportunities for growth and development, theoretical knowledge about sailing ship handling and practical training on board of the two sailing ships owned by the society, sailing in Baltic sea waters, acquire knowledge about ship construction and ship maintenance;3) Paragon Europe is an international private organization acting in Malta and Brussels; providing traineeship placement, accommodation, transportation logistics and different training courses, cultural activities and for other specific needs of the partner institution in Malta.In the framework of the project 8 VET students of LMC will have training in Germany on board of the Kiel society's sailing ship, and to enrich practical skills will sail from Kiel to Liepāja and back to Kiel (reggata Kiel-Liepaja-Kiel). Two representatives of LMC qualified staff will accompany them.Another 8 VET LMC students will visit Malta to participate in trainings on board of the ships according to the provided traineeship programme in the chosen profession.This project will strengthen and enrich the theoretical skills, practical skills and abilities of LMC participants, who will gain recognized experience that is necessary for future life and competiveness on the labour market. Participants will get to know a different culture, gain a broader vision and a more comprehensive perspective of life, as well as improve their language and communication skills, strengthen their self-sufficiency.It is the task of LMC to select and prepare students for internship. They will be greeted by the Receiving/host organization and will be taken to their internship places and provided with the necessary information and support. Before internship, the sending and host organizations will coordinate the training programme and the start and end dates. LMC will consult the participants and provide necessary documents, and the normative documents for their filling in, the evaluation procedure and recognition criteria. At the internship places the participants will be supervised by a responsible person (supervisor) and will be provided training according to the internship programme, and the host organization (for mobility to Malta) will be regularly checked/ will have to monitor implementation of trainings and inform the responsible person in LMC.In order to provide better practical trainings on sailing ships, during this project, 8 LMC VET students will have traineeship on board of a sailing ship and will pilot the ship in open sea to sail Kiel-Liepaja-Kiel route together with German young people, who will have also have a chance to visit Liepaja and LMC during their short stay in Liepaja port.Upon implementing the project a long-term cooperation is formed among the organizations which can ensure the cooperation in other projects and events. These are not only new knowledge and self-development opportunities, but also national and LMC and partner organizations’ presentation abroad, a chance to increase publicity at regional, national and European level. Publicity and the experience gained in the project will not only provide greater publicity for the organizations and interest of other organizations in cooperation, but also other young people's interest for this type of project and the professional experience to be gained.Project results will be published on organizations-participants home pages. Information about project activities and personal stories of project participants will be published in local and national newspapers and in social networks. Project results will also be presented during exhibitions and conferences, where any organization involved in the project will participate.
