LETS CRE8!
Start date: May 1, 2015, End date: May 1, 2016 PROJECT  FINISHED

"LETS CRE8" youth exchange will bring together 40 young people from Luxembourg, Czech Republic, Estonia, Slovakia and Macedonia. The youth exchange will take place in Luxembourg. Together they will develop strategies to reduce and reuse items that we dont really use anymore in everyday life. In fact, many people have the attic, the basement, the garage etc filled of things stored on each other for most forgotten and left dragged, which could be converted into useful and artistic new objects and receive a chance to get a new life. The young participants will not only change the overall look of responsible consumption and recycling in relation to society but also give them a new innovative and positive image. The theme of this exchange was rooted among the people of our association and also through partner organizations. The subject is even more important that many environmental problems are the cause of waste and non-respect of nature and recycling, including in Luxembourg, but also in the partner countries of this project. Although Luxembourg is quite exemplary in recycling structures and how to face these problems in general, but it turns out that this is unfortunately not the case in all other countries of the European Union and this exchange will provide opportunities for young people from different countries and cultures to debate on the subject and to promote environmentally responsible consumption among their family and among young people in their country of origin. During the exchange, participants will describe and discuss the different methods of conventional recycling and establish global and traditional image of mass consumption among our society based on photos, descriptions, interviews, etc ... After establishing the overall image of the mode of life of the society in which we live, they will participate in artistic and creative workshops to demonstrate that this is not the only existing way to do it. With only a few basic resources and a little practice, the objects which are often not really given any value can give a much more positive image that we could imagine at first. (Simple example: wasted pallets turned into any kind of furniture or in decorative items for a ecological garden) At the end, photos and videos will be used to compare traditional and creative ways to consume and re-use and the results will be shown to the people and the local community in order to have a positive impact and to renew and improve the quiet negative image of recycled and "homemade" products among young people and today's society. The idea that will surround the project is also to make people think on the lifestyle that we have and the waste that each of us produces, often without even realizing it. In fact, we're so used to always buy new things we have forgotten that we can also transform old things that we dont use anymore in valuable things with just a little imagination and "do it yourself" talent. The exchange will prepare participants to be active European citizens who understand their rights and duties and can be in charge of green societal change. It will develop their creativity and sense of entrepreneurship, will prepare them to take part in discussions about political and social matters, broaden their understanding of green matters as well as inspire them to organise community events. It will also develop their intercultural skills and will give them better under of other European countries.
