PROJECT
FINISHED
The project aims to raise awareness among the population of the environmental, economic and socio-cultural functions of the soil, as well as the pressure it faces. The impact on local and cross-border level is explained, as are the measures that have been adopted or could be adopted to limit soil degradation. At the same time, the partners assess the impact of various agricultural practices on compaction, erosion, the level of carbon stocks in the soil, salinity, phosphorous levels and biodiversity. They subsequently promote agricultural practices that reduce compaction, erosion, loss of organic matter, excessive phosphorous levels in the soil and biodiversity loss. Finally, they make a number of recommendations for policy makers on how to limit soil degradation. Achievements: - 10,000 copies of 3 didactic reports were made and circulated.- 1,155 files, 269 experiment files and 52 experiment kits have been downloaded.- The travelling exhibition attracted 27,000 visitors at 55 different locations.- 92 hectares of parcels, of which 75 trial fields, practised sustainable farming methods, thus limiting soil degradation.- A cross-border colloquium to raise awareness among policy makers was held on 27/03/2012.
