FINISHED
The project entitled „Let’s use tradition and modernity for social inclusion” comes from the fact that young people with fewer opportunities due to special needs or disadvantaged even if creative does not become active social in fields connected with art. Also a painful nowadays reality is that young generation spends its life at a great rate, between TV, computer, mobile phones, tablets, missing the chance to discover the deep beauty of the traditional values and to find a way to a simple, peaceful and fulfil life. We aim that starting from old lasting symbols to help disadvantaged youth rediscover the grandma’s time beauties, to reflect on their meanings and to find a way to bring them back to life. We wish to open a gate to a world where young people chose to wear a Celtic knot style necklace instead a skeleton-like one, where the designers create a notebook cover inspired by the beauty of the traditional weavings instead of pirates, witches or extreme sports. The main goals of the project are: personal development of the disadvantaged young people and leaders participating in the project, the enlargement of the international dimension of the participating organisations, improvement of foreign language competences of the participants, increase the self-esteem, improve the awareness of national cultural identity in the context of European citizenship, increasing the ability to address the needs of the disadvantaged. The project is initiated by the Romanian Branart Assotiation and has as parteners the organizations Help from Poland, Sega Association from Bulgaria, NGO Prosvasi from Cyprus and Active Youth Association from Turkey. It will be coordinated by Mrs. Manea Ana Cristina from the host organisation and includes 39 young participants with fewer opportunities and 6 leaders. The methods used in the activities are of nonformal type such as: know each-other games, team player games, public coffee, alive exhibition, thematic trip, workshops and creative workshops, role playing, discover – action – learn, wireless phone, intercultural evenings, round table, intercultural dialogue. On the final day the young people will participate at their own exhibition and will have the chance to make observations and proposals while filling the final questionnaires. At the end of the project the participants will prove better English language communication skills, better team player skills, will recognize at least 10 symbols that overcame the test of the time, will be able to explain their meaning and to find an application field, will understand and correctly use terms from art, tradition and handicrafts, will have elementary skills to practice handicrafts as weaving, sewing, interweaving, pottery and wooden work, will be aware of traditional values of the three participating countries and will be able to expose their own works. This personal development will have a positive impact not only on the young people themselves, but also on their families and communities as colleagues, friends and local communities. On long term they will better face the challenge of finding a job and of being active members of the society.
