We, teachers, principal and vice-principal of Victor Hugo school, wish to discover different school systems in Europe and the policies that other European countries, especially those in Northern Europe, have set up in order to avoid drop outs in school and increase long-term retention of students at risk in their school systems. Our aim is to multiply the perspectives on what is done in Europe on that issue by taking part in 4 different training courses across Europe (2 to 3 teachers will be sent to each of them). Each team will then summarize what they have learnt in the country they were in and present to the whole educational staff of our school all the new practices and ideas they have been introduced to in their different courses. Although we are aware of the social and cultural differences that may exist between our school system and our local circumstances and those of the countries we would like to learn from, we firmly believe that the experiments and successes of our European partners could enrich and inspire us.
