The project consists of the participation in two trainings. The focus of the first lies on early school leavers and students at risk in general; the second is a structured study visit which aims at insights in the Finish school system. Both actions comprise aspects of school organization and management as well as the concrete work with pupils and teaching. They combine the theoretical input with activating workshops and visits of schools and other institutions. The aim of the participation is to find solutions to problems we have identified as urgent (e.g. coping with youth at risk, integration of migrants/refugees) via exchange of experiences with the other participants and new ideas coming from the experts. We have chosen members of the administration/management to participate because they have the deepest insight in the topics and their position enables them to insert new measures and to evaluate immediately to what extent this is feasible in our working environment. In the long run we hope to improve our work with youth at risk in order to decrease the number of pupils leaving school without any diploma and to increase the number of pupils who successfully find a place in the apprenticeship scheme IVT and can complete the training.
