The project „Better Teacher – Better School” aims at raising teachers’ qualifications and as a consequence improving the quality of school work to influence educational success of its students. The improvement will be carried out in three dimensions: teaching and learning foreign languages, pedagogy and psychology, and early school leaving/overcoming failure in education. The development of the above will be achieved by raising teachers’ qualifications, using effective teaching methods and psychological knowledge, as well as applying good practices used in European schools. There will be fourteen participants – teachers of: Polish, English and German languages, mathematics, biology and chemistry, information technology, physical education, education for safety, family life education. There will also be librarians, a school specialist on vocational guidance and boarding house tutors. They will be developing their qualifications on trainings and courses in Austria, Ireland, Germany and Italy. As a result they will acquire new knowledge and get new experience, they will develop their language and interpersonal skills as well as their intercultural awareness. They will also get in touch with teachers from other European countries. The improvement of the teachers’ methods and skills will have a direct impact on the discouraged and difficult students. With their improved attitudes the teachers will positively influence the students thus giving them a better support and the ability of coping with their emotions and school stress. Thus prepared teachers will implement their knowledge and skills into school practice inspiring the young people to develop and shape themselves as active members of European society. They will teach them how to find motivation to study and plan their lives and professional careers, they will help students to develop their communicative skills in foreign languages as well as their interpersonal skills. Through personal development of our teaching staff we will accomplish the aims of the project and consequently develop our whole institution. The teachers will share the acquired knowledge with the rest of the staff. The examples of their mobilities will enhance motivation of the remaining teachers to improve their language abilities, willingness to use new and creative teaching methods, and will allow to start international cooperation. As a result our school will gain the recognition as the institution of European value.
