Leonardo da Vinci Project
Start date: Jun 1, 2014, End date: May 31, 2016 PROJECT  FINISHED

This project is a participation project between Fjölbrautaskólinn Ármúla in Iceland and SOPU in Denmark. These schools have cooperated in the past by exchanging students for vocational training. The participating students have been studying for the degree of nursing assistant. The time period involved is 4-5 weeks per student, either in the spring or fall. They will be working at nursing homes under the supervision of nursing assistants. The students apply for this exchange and considertation is taken to grades, punctuality and overall educational perfomance. The main goal is to give students a chance to learn and work in another country, learn to live in another country and to gain insight into another culture. These factors are meant to broaden the students horizon and to encourage them to look outside their own landmark in the future. The participating schools gain knowledge of each other through this program and strenghten their network of communication in Europe. The results of the program are expected to be students with greater knowledge, less prejudice and a better insight into the work outside their own country. The students will have a Europass Certificate after the program. A program like this will add to the communication and cooperation between Iceland and Denmark and increase an educational understanding between them. Programs like these done in the past have shown good results for both the schools and students involved.
