This project is an on-the-job training / job shadowing between a kindergarten in Grindavík, Iceland, and a kindergarten in Pitea, Sweden. The project will go on for 2 years, and during that time, participants will make two visits to Sweden. Participants in the project are teachers and administrators who form the management team of the kindergarten in Grindavík, a total of five participants. The objective of the participation is to observe the procedures and practices of kindergartens in Europe, in order to promote professional practice within the kindergarten of Laut, Grindavík.We have been working on research and development concerning literacy and language stimulation, and would like to study how kindergartens in Sweden approach that part of their program. In order to prevent stagnation in kindergarten teaching and management, it is vital to be involved in continuing education; this project will undeniably be an important facor in our continuing education program.Participation in such projects promotes much needed discussions about professional practices within the kindergartens; where does it stand, what is going well, and what can we improve.Furthermore, cogitation in discussions within the whole group of employees benefits greatly by participation in projects such as this one.
