Lebenshilfe - a varied experience with people with special needs!
Start date: Aug 1, 2014, End date: Mar 31, 2016 PROJECT  FINISHED

The volunteers Marta Czerniec from Poland, Filip Karlsson from Sweden, Konstantina Apostolidi from Greece, George Diaconu from Romania and Cláudia Maria Cunha Maio from Portugal made their EVS from the beginning of Sept. 2014 for one year in the HO Loackerhuus in Götzis and Sunnahof Tufers in Göfis. In both projects the volunteers have worked with handicapped people in connection with different tasks and areas. Marta has worked in the Loackerhuus in Götzis, in that HO she had the chance to work with handicapped people together in the different areas Atelier, creative group, cafeteria,… She had the chance to work in all areas and bring her ideas and skills in also she made a lot of different experiences connected to those tasks. Filip, Konstantina, George and Cláudia have participated in the Sunnahof Tufers. There they worked in 4 different areas where they supported the co-workers. Filip worked in on the farm, Konstantina in the carpentry, George in the gastronomy and Cláudia in the garden. During their EVS they did some own projects and had also the chance to participate in the areas of the others. Cláudia and Konstantina were applied as disadvantaged candidates. All two would have been without EVS unemployed. Through the EVS they had the chance for a new orientation and to look what chances they have. All of them found after the EVS some job or they followed some other education. For all partners the EVS was a big success. The volunteers had the chance to get to know a new culture, made new experiences with handicapped people and had the chance to bring in their own ideas and skills. For the HO the benefit was to have young and motivated volunteers who participated in their organisations. George and Konstantina stayed after their EVS in Vorarlberg. Konstantina did an Au-pair and George got a job in a house with handicapped people. Before the projects have started we had to change a candidate. Original was a different candidate applied from Portugal. Because of the fact that she cancelled Cláudia got the chance to participate. The outcome of the project was that the HO wanted to continue with the EVS program and to give youngsters the chance to make new experiences in a foreign country. Also the 5 volunteers will spread their experiences so that there will hopefully more young people interested in EVS and the Erasmus+ program.
