The LEARNOVATION project aims to stimulate a process, at the EU level as well as atthe level of the Member States, leading to a collective and consensus-based definitionof a new vision of eLearning (or technology-enhanced learning) in Europe, able toinspire the full exploitation of its potential to implement lifelong learning strategies and tosupport innovation in Europe, also beyond the borders of education and trainingsystems. The project will also provide valuable inputs to new learning public policies thatrely on embedded ”invisible” technologies to boost learning effectiveness, reach andproductivity. More concretely, the LEARNOVATION objectives can be summarised asfollows: 1. to explore, analyse and document emerging innovation paradigms in alleLearning areas of application - the so called ”eLearning territories” (within and outsideEU Programmes, within and outside formal education institutions) and to produce 12Thematic Reports; 2. to relate the use of ICT for learning (actual and potential) to policypriorities in the field of lifelong learning (e.g Education 2010, frameworks of indicatorsand benchmarks) but also in a broader perspective (New Lisbon, Innovation, i2010,Research Agenda, Competitiveness and Cohesiveness of the knowledge society);3. to develop a consensus-based new articulated vision of eLearning, linked toinnovation paradigms and taking into account the differentiation dimension of the”eLearning territories”, by involving all EU and national actors categories that mightcontribute to the process through EU and national discussion seminars and webcollaboration work;4. to design and activate a foresight capacity on future use of ICT to support learningprocesses in all aspects of European citizens’ life and to produce a focussed ForesightReport;5. to propose a set of indicators and a collection and analysis processes able todocument achievements of ICT to support learning processes following theLEARNOVATION vision, in view of enhancing the policy making process at EU and atnational level;6. to develop a project multiplying effect on different parts of lifelong learning systemsand in the broader societal scenario, by actively involving external actors in theorganisation of LEARNOVATION seminars in their own environment, guaranteeing astrong cascade effect, also supported by a professional media campaign. The ambitious goal of the project will be reached thanks to the experience and credibilityof the LEARNOVATION consortium, that gathers both research leaders in the field ofLLL and ICT for learning (such as Scienter, MENON and the Universidad CatolicaPortuguesa) and professional awareness raising organisations, such as PAU Education(in charge of the European eLearning portal) and EDEN, the largest European networkactive in ICT for Lifelong learning themes.
