European trade union education is on the rise. As the Europeanization of industrialrelations is rapidly increasing, it will be necessary to redefine the European dimension oftrade union education. This has created a variety of new training needs for trade unionorganisations, and their officers and representatives. These new challenges demandinnovative solutions, in terms of identifying the types of education and training that willbe required to understand the latest developments in European industrial relations.The aim of this project is to produce a European trade union model for learning needsanalysis. This model will serve as a tool for identifying general and transnational needsof the new skills and competencies that trade union trainers need. Currently there areno existing models identifying the learning needs of trade union trainers. In identifyingand specifying learning needs, the model ensures that education and training aretargeted competently and consistently by trainers. The model will provide more effective,reliable methods for matching upcoming training needs with existing ones, and it willprovide new possibilities for the improvement of training skills and the competencies oftrade union trainers.The products and outputs are: European job specifications for trade union trainer’s anddiplomas; a method for investigating and identifying the performance gaps in the targetgroup of trade union trainers; a tool for translating trainers’ learning needs into learningaction; instruments for evaluating the learning preformed by trade union trainers; aninstruction manual that teaches the steps of carrying out a needs analysis; a directoryof tools and methods available on the internet; tests and demonstrations; an evaluationreport that fits with the quality management plan; dissemination and exploitation of theoutcomes.
