Learning from history - Taking a Stand Today - Building a positive Future. Intercultural volunteer service with Aktion Suhnezeichen Friedensdienste 2011-12.

The EVS-project- "Learning from History - Taking a Stand Today - Building a positive Future. Volunteer services with Aktion Sühnezeichen Friedensdienste 2011-2012" - lasts 12 month and aims to involve 10 young people from Germany, Russia-and thè'Ukraine in individual activities. The volunteers work with people with disabilities, with socially disadvantaged groups, they support elderly people and work in the field of historical and political education. The main focus of this EVS-project isin' particular to work towards inclusive growth, e.g. by supporting and strengthening people who face social exclusion, racism and discrimination because of disability, religious or ethnic backgrounds and to work in the field of political and historical education dealing with National Socialism and its consequences. During the service the volunteers get to know the cultures in their hosting countries and will meet people from local communities in and outside their host organisations. Their volunteer work is additional and bring a European perspective in the work of the host organisations. The volunteer service and a special training cycle intend to increase the knowledge and commitment of the volunteers for a peaceful Europe.
