PROJECT
FINISHED
Our project is called Learning for Life – promoting learning competencies and healthy living in a Europe-wide comparison.
The project idea references recent curricular changes which reflect a growing focus upon proactive acquisition of practical skills through student-centred, self-organised learning and a concentration on competencies.
Also in project focus are improved accessibility to inclusive learning settings for students with learning disabilities and the creation of innovative learning environments in compliance with international standards (EQF; NQF).
Participants are students/ educators in training in the area of Social Pedagogy and Social Management (including Curative Education and Care -HEP). Also participating in the project are vocational college teachers and practitioners working in the described fields ("VETPRO"). A total of 32 student mobilities plus 12 VETPRO mobilities are planned.
The primary aim of the project is to promote open-mindedness in all participants, especially in connection with alternative educational concepts and impulses. This requires critical awareness and the ability to derive actions and strategies from authentic learning situations.
Our project is also about reaching a better understanding and comparability of significant features of national education systems in Europe. Specific areas of attention shall focus on the teaching of mathematics, science, music, arts and literacy as well as healthy living and work/life balance.
We currently cooperate with early-age childcare institutions including kindergartens, primary schools, facilities for people with special needs and with training institutions (Colleges). At present our students utilise mobilities in Finland, Sweden, Denmark, Scotland, England, Wales, Belgium, France, Lithuania, Romania, Spain, Turkey and Malta; further countries may follow.
Planned are: 2- to 4-week / 6-month mobilities for practical work experience in the areas of Social Pedagogy or Social Management.
The work placements offer students insights into the social and healthcare systems of Europe.
VETPRO participants also benefit from the project through getting to know and evaluating innovative learning methods and training measures. In this way, long-term improvements in the academic and practical education of the students may be achieved
Students, vocational college teachers and practitioners from the described fields are invited to apply for participation in the project. Candidates must display demonstrable interest in project aims, professional suitability and language proficiency.
By means of this project, we aim to further the competencies and qualification of students and teachers. The project allows participants to recognize and reflect upon their own strengths and weaknesses and to promote learning competencies accordingly. Students organize and evaluate their work themselves; teachers are on hand to provide advice and support. In this way, students develop a positive and proactive basis for lifelong learning.
The project shall be realized in strategic cooperation with the North Carelian College Joensuu/ Finland between 01.06.2015 and 31.05.2017.
