The main aim of our primary school project ‘LEARNING ENGLISH AND METHODOLOGY TO BE ABLE TO TEACH’ developed by Ceip Can Cantó is to apply for an Erasmus + mobility program Ka1. Our school is located in Ibiza city. It includes pre-primary and primary students and it only has one group per year. The school is comprised of 250 students. In regard to teacher training, our teachers are attending English Language Courses. We considerate that carrying out short courses in English-speaking countries could provide teachers the opportunity to improve and update their knowledge of the language and to gain a wealth of new teaching ideas as well as have expertise on CLIL methodology (Content and Language Integrated Learning) and ICT (Information and Communications Technology). Our school consists of 18 teachers, aged between 25 and 60 and with a diverse experience. Only six of them have the B2 level of English, minimum required to teach in English. For that reason, we have detected training needs in the knowledge of the English language in order to implement a successful European Sections Program. It is expected that during this project 4 learning training mobilities will be carried out. By doing so, the participants would recieve the necessary training depending on their needs. The mobilities would be conducted in the UK and during the months of July and August 2015. The participants have been selected according to their permanent position in the school, their English level, the training participation in English training activities and personal motivation. The expected impact will be observed in all our students. They will have a quality benchmark of the language and well-prepared teachers who will enrich their learning. The school will have more qualified staff to carry out its own European Sections Program included in the Linguistic Project. In addition, during 2015/16 and, thanks to this program, we would participate in the educational platform eTwinning and the Erasmus Program + Ka2 in order to provide continuity to this project.
