Learning active citizenship through urban beekeeping - Let's learn deep and flavorful democracy from bees

We; Messzelátó (HU), Trial&Error(G), Vertigem (PT), PIC(ES) created our working group to utilize and share our knowledge that we gained in different fields of interests. All partners in this strategic learning partnership are deeply interested in our chosen common topic: democracy/active citizenship education and environmental education through urban beekeeping.Our goal in our strategic partnership is to use urban beekeeping as tool of deeper understanding of active citizenship and practicing participatory democracy. Not only would we use urban beekeeping as an environmental educational activity, we also want to create youth program and our local beekeeper learning groups on understanding sharpening a cohesive local community, to build an active network of volunteers, members, supporters, collaborators. In the collaborative, local youth groups in every country will be involved youth with fewer opportunities special attantion for youth with cultural difference, unemployed.This type of community activity re-establishes the connection between young people and healthy food production, contributes to a sense of involvement and inclusion, re-engage people at risk into our community, and increases citizen responsibility by giving them a sense that they do have the power to make changes in their city.The exchange of experience on learning possibilities in this context is of vital importance . As an educational tool, urban beekeeping is accessible to all ages, all cultures, all genders, all income levels, all abilities. For a learner the results are tangible and applicable to everyday life. The participating countries are Germany, Spain, Portugal and Hungary. By arranging a joint staff training and 3 online conferences each partner has an opportunity to share their field of expertise with other partners and a selection of learners, by showing examples, holding workshops, arranging lectures or any combination of activities which feel most appropriate. The outcomes of the project will be 4 partner organisation will be more professional in operating youth/volunteer programs, creating special educational materials and better in international cooperations. Youth participating in this project will become more active citizens. Their entrepreneur skills, communication and leadersihp skills will improve along with their knowledge on environmeltal topics such as beekeeping. As well as the setting up of several local public community events/studies on democracy status of countries and educational materilas next to the urban beehives with the help of the collaborative youth learner groups.
