PROJECT
FINISHED
The youth exchange "Learn from Experience, break into the Future", it was held in Iglesias a town in the province of Iglesias. The idea for this exchange stems from output developed during various international projects to which some members of our association took part. The starting point was the analysis of the serious situation of economic hardship faced by our region and our region in particular, the province of Carbonia-Iglesias that according to the latest Istat data turns out to be one of the poorest provinces of Italy. The economic crisis is severely affecting our society and young people taken by anxiety over the situation and the lack of opportunity may be in difficult situations and wrong. The theme of the project, therefore, was born from the need to promote "youth entrepreneurship", to promote the role of youth as agents of change. We also felt the lack of information on the opportunities that Europe offers young people and we have tried to fulfill this need. With this project we have the opportunity to explore the topic, bringing information to young people and through discussion about the different youth policies implemented in each of the participating countries, stimulate their creativity, drive them to be leaders and promoters of their own future.
The project brought together 40 young people from Italy, Portugal, Latvia, Albania, Serbia and Montenegro. In the week of the exchange they were able to compare the different situations regarding youth unemployment in their local situations. They identified the different causes that led to having the current situation, with very large disparities of an employment rate in Europe and neighbors. Then they could think about some good practices and policies that have been implemented or adopted by the countries whose performance is good, and to analyze the known defects of those who have chosen to wrong policies. Finally attended the presentation of a few examples of young entrepreneurs, reflected and discussed them. During the project the children have collected evidence to be used for the final video highlighting the link between employability, skills and active citizenship. Were presented and explained some Community programs that could facilitate the active participation of young people unemployed, as Erasmus +, Erasmus for Young Entrepreneurs and other mobility programs and training in order to provide young people with a comprehensive picture of the opportunities offered by the European . The local community in which it is realized the project has undergone a major impact: Iglesias is not a big city, so an event like this has been seen as exceptional and interesting by its inhabitants. The community has warmly welcomed the participants and cooperated with them when collecting interviews for the final video, amplifying the effects of the presence of the group. In the end, even our service providers and local stakeholders have benefited from the publicity that the project has made them. The city of Iglesias and the whole area is in a phase of restructuring its economy than in past years was based mainly on the industry, and now projected to tourism. Also the boys in the evening attended the places where young people spend their evenings Iglesias giving greater weight to their presence and to project.
