We live in different countries, we speak different languages, have different culture, but in the same time we are very similar being European citizens, sharing the same European values. The idea of the proposed project: youth perspective on cultural identities captured on lens initiative appeared as a possible answer to the need of promoting cohesion between youngsters from two neighboring regions: Satu Mare, Romania and Szabolcs-Szatmar-Bereg, Hungary. The project aims to develop cultural awareness of young people from a perspective which is very familiar for them: photo shooting. The project plans two mobility flows, one in the spring and one in the summer of 2016, for 48 participants in total, 24 participants per flow, 24 youngsters from both participating countries (Hungary and Romania), assisted by 2 group leaders for each national group. In each flow 12 young people from Kisvarda and its surroundings, Hungary will travel to Satu Mare where they will participate along with 12 youngsters from Satu Mare region, Romania at different workshops, trainings, discussions and a cultural visits during their 5 days stay. The main topic of the events will be photo shooting, the techniques gained by the participants being used to present their own cultural identity and capture the similarities and differences of the two environments. An exhibition of the best photos taken during the exchange session will be held on the 5th day of each flow. Youngsters will have the possibility to meet stakeholders as invitees of the exhibition event, they will make presentations of their work and get feed back for them. Cultural awareness, sense of initiative, social, communication and learning to learn competences will be gained by the participants during the activities. They will get further information on the use of a photo camera and basic rules of social networking services. Working in mixed groups will have the opportunity to understand social values, to accept diversity and people from different cultural, ethnic, social backgrounds. The participants of the project will be good promoters of European citizenship and can spread the news between colleagues. The initiative can be also extended by involving other countries, creating the chance for youngsters to meet different cultures, different nations. Another potential long term benefit of the project could be the creation of thematic photo clubs on social media, founded by participants, focusing on issues like European citizenship, cultural diversity, travel and living.
