Le stage en Europe au cœur des apprentissages du Bac Professionnel Services aux Personnes et aux Territoires(III).
Start date: Jun 1, 2015, End date: May 31, 2017 PROJECT  FINISHED

With this third mobility project for VET learners the Saint Yves secundary school aims to reinforce the european dimension of its pedagogical and professional actionplan. The school has been actively involved in the european field, lately in Comenius (in 2006, 2008-2010, 2013-2015) and in 2 Leonardo projects(2011-13 and 2013-2015) which totalize 98 mobilities for 62 financed. These european projects have allowed to build partnerships on which the present project is partially based. The systematic curriculum based compulsory foreign practical is a strong element of the professionalisations aims of the training. The school has chosen to make these practicals compulsory for the Professional Baccalauréat “Services for people and territoria students". It helps to lift social economic handicaps (little or none mobility, little contact with Europe) and geographical disadvantages (isolated countryside, periphery situation, ) This type of project also allows the school to fulfill its mission of cooperation as written in the law and decided by the Minister of Agriculture. The majority of our last year’s students aim to work in the personal service field to the public. This has a large spectre: /spectrum: it concerns children, youth, elderly, disabled and fragile public(care). Welcoming the public is part of the education curriculum too; welcomedesk in public sector, local museums, touristoffices. For these- in majority female- students, our partners are located in 2 different european countries. 1. In Belgium it concerns collective public structures: pedagogical farm, center for disabled persons, touristoffice, elderlyhomes, nursing at home, primary schools, all of which have their seat in Mouscron, capital of the frenchspeaking Hainaut province. In Flanders a partnerschool identical to Saint Yves school regarding trainingfields, takes the same type of placement in charge. 2. In Rumania the partnerships are with a home for autonomous living for the elderly and a childprotectioncenter of the Covasna region. This organization manages different services for children, in the disabled field and an occupational center. In total 10 students will go on work placement in Rumania and 32 in Belgium over the entire timespan of the project. Currently 30 target students are in their fore last year of secundary school (Première) (year 2015-16), 20 in fore-fore last year (Seconde) (year 2016-17). The workplacement takes place at the beginning of the schoolyear, first term, (oct.) when students have gained enough technical know how. For planning and pedagogical reasons all students of one /a same class will be on europeanworkplacement in mean time. This scheme has proven to be satisfying from 2011 to 2014. This work placement abroad is compulsory. Of our students, a majority is easily impressed and shy and not keen to live a foreign experience. It encompasses a totally unknown frightening dimension. Nevertheless students have to submit their résumé, by using CV Europass, for the work placement of their choice. They are following step by step a life size application scheme, like a real job applicant. This european practical is an educational choice of the school. Its 16-day length, travel included, is relatively short, but reasonable because this way everybody may experience this european professional practical as chance and not as an ordeal. This mobility tool is part of the school’s international strategy, we have opened in 2014 a european department. A mobility and cooperation department will be put in for funding for 2015 in order to value the mobility experience in the final examination (Baccalaureate). The francophone dimension of the project is strong; verbal communication with the public is a strong component of the student’s professional field. The very weak level of their English causes incomprehension on the work placements and doesn’t allow a deepgoing professional level of communication. However students going to Flanders and Rumania will there find a way of improving their knowledge of English. The compulsory aspect of the practicals firstly obliges us to offer a broad choice of organizations and to put students at ease: a reassuring teacher will be present abroad, nevertheless we stress on the immersive aspect that remains essential for us. The preparation before departure will be individualized according to different destinations and languages during a preparation practical. This experience will be certified by Europass Mobility. This project is managed by a steering group of Saint Yves Vocational School composed of a multidisciplinary group which ensures good communication with different foreign partners in order to be able to adapt project if needed during its running time. With this project the Lycée wants to reinforce its local and regional visibility and develop its international partnerships on the basis of reciprocity, which so far is well advanced.
