The necessary competences in contemporary librarian work exceeds skills to be professionally orientated in library collections and serve librarian users if the library is developing that lifelong learning center and provides quality support for education and training that corresponds actual models of behavior in society and education development trends in Europe. Librarian has to understand both - directions in changing character of library development and changes in library user thinking habits and perception. Accordingly the project aim is to encourage and enhance widening the competences of the staff of the National Library of Latvia in line with the integration of new and actual tendencies into library's work.Often innovation is started when multiple faced ideas and knowledge in different disciplines meet. Five day seminar - training workshop for library professionals as adult educators is the chosen form for competence widening. One of the main goals of these workshops is to cover subjects which are normally not covered in Library and Information science curricula and provide participants a chance to gain first hand experience.The training workshops are developed within ERASMUS+ KA2 project X-LIBRIS (2014-1-TR01-KA200-012958) training activities. The partner of training mobility project is ISES (Social Innovation Social Entrepreneurship).The essential expectable outcomes of the project include experience of innovative methodologies and creative exchange of the best practices with the colleagues from other libraries of Europe and that will enrich the innovation establishment for enhancing educational processes in libraries of Latvia.The knowledge and competences acquired in project realization will be used for promotion of educative activities in library work, innovations in service design - for enriching existing and developing new services in the National Library of Latvia and all library sector in Latvia.
