In 2009, the European Commission and National Taiwan University signed an agreement and the European Union Centre in Taiwan (hereafter, EUTW) was established. In 2010, Prof. Hungdah Su, the General Director of EUTW was awarded the first Jean Monnet Chair in Taiwan. In 2012, EUTW was selected to present its held activities at the EU Centres World Meeting. In 2013, the European Commission and NTU signed the second agreement to continue the EUTW’s mission in Taiwan. In the past six years, the EUTW has accumulated a large portfolio of useful networks and resources in the EU, as well as a wealth of experience gained from continued involvement in this field. We plan to utilise our existing networks and resources to continue to promote EU studies at NTU. Follows are objectives of this module: Objective One: Increase students’ awareness of EU studies at NTU. Objective Two: Facilitate students with EU studies background learning for deeper understanding of EU studies. Objective Three: Provide students with advanced EU studies backgrounds with an opportunity to participate in EU research at the national and regional levels. Objective Four: Promote NTU Triangle Allies’ students (approximately total of 60,000 students from National Taiwan University, National Taiwan Normal University, and National Taiwan University for Science and Technology can take courses at any of the NTU Triangle universities) to participate in EU related activities. In the next three years we anticipate the following learning achievements: first, more students with non-EU studies backgrounds will start to be aware of the EU and its related information; Second: the number of EU studies students will increase and their EU learning competence will also improve; and third: students with a more advanced EU studies background will be helped to prepare themselves for a more profound teaching and researching experiences in the EU field.
