Participation in the teacher exchange programme is mostly connected with the need to devolop language skills of the English teachers in Junior High School No. 3 in Ciechanów.
The course - Language, Methodology and Culture - focuses on developing general language skills and provides the participants with teaching ideas: using drama and storytelling in the lessons, using the Internet and techniques for teaching pronunciation and grammar. A very important factor for non native speakers is the opportunity to have a contact with the culture and traditions of the British and to be immersed in the culture for two weeks. This is especially appreciated by the teachers because they usually use only elementary or pre - intermediate English at work. As a result teachers will feel more confident in using English which will also have an impact on the lessons and the quality of the teaching process at school. New ideas for lessons will also protect the teachers from burnout. What is more the possibility to exchange ideas with other participants will enrich the teachers.
The teachers hope for finding potencial partners for future students and teachers exchanges . This long-term cooperation may result in enhancing students' and teachers' motivation in learning English . Moreover student will become more open and tolerant towards other cultures, which is especially important in small communities .
Mrs. Ewa Gulczyńska and Mrs. Edyta Talarowska are English teachers with a 20 year qualifying period. They are very innovative and involved in work. They have a lot of ideas which are used in a teaching process ( e.g. cooperation with other teacher - teaching Chemistry in English) and cooperate with Teacher Training College ( supervising teaching practice). Other participants of the course will also benefit from te teacher's experience.
The project aims at the development of language skills as well as finding potential partners for international exchanges, which are crucial for the development of a school as a European institution.
