The project MAROS-HABITAT has the objective to implement a research program for the assessment of the ecosystem goods and services for the Mures and Cris valley, by applying an analysis method still not used for the management of natural resources within the two countries. The direct benefits will result in the determination of the ecological potential of the area, and, indirectly, supporting the nature conservation.The main activities of the project are: research activities preparation, training session for staff and students, implementation of the research program I. - Habitat and community evaluation, implementation of the research program II. - Establishing estimation of genetic diversity of selected animal species and implementation of the research program III. - Socioeconomic evaluation of ecosystem goods and services Direct target groups are represented by the project staff, involved either as project management team or as scientific personnel, students and staff trained in the various project working field, participants in the events organized during project implementation are also direct beneficiaries of the project. Also, local authorities informed regarding land use and ecosystem services within their administrative territory, information which shall be used to elaborate sustainable development strategies..
