Land in Sight!
Start date: Aug 1, 2015, End date: Dec 31, 2015 PROJECT  FINISHED

Young people from youthcare are allowed to live in youthcare till the age of 18. After that they have to start an independent life. Unfortunately, they are often insufficiently prepared. Young people have to arrange a lot of things (work, home, insurance, finances) and most of the time it is just too much for them. Through the youth exchange we want to offer them a break from the reality. To give them a week where they can dream. And where they learn how to make this dream reality by making concrete steps in a five-year plan. This plan will be developed by doing various exercises during the week (a lifeline, quality game, value game, team play, network analysis, etc.). From Austria, Croatia, Bosnia and The Netherlands a total of 19 young people (4 - 6 youngsters per country) between 17 and 23 years will come during the exchange. All young people are personal experts in youth care and are going to live independent soon or just made that big step. These young people will get a huge boost by the youth exchange. They know who they are, what they can do, what they think is important and what they want to achieve in the next 5 years. In the months after the exchange, they keep in touch with the other young people from their own country. In addition, they have their 'diamond box' with memories of others from this week. With these methods we want to keep all the things they learned during the exchange "alive". The participating organizations are sending 2 groupleaders per country. From The Netherlands, there will be an additional supervisor because of the youthcare background with all traumatic experience. Together with the 19 young people makes that a total of 28 people. For the participating organizations this youth exchange is of great importance too. The results of this week are shared by making a film and a press release. All organizations show eachother how the young people can share all they have learned in the youth exchange in their own organization. This is how we want to do more around the problems of careleaving. Finally, a connection with FICE International will be made. FICE International can use the results as an input for policy and draw attention to careleaving issues at a European level.
