The Maison des Bateleurs is the regional branch of Solidarités Jeunesses in Poitou Charentes. The project aims to give opportunities to volunteers to discover social diversity, intercultural experience, collective work and life as implemented at the Maison des Bateleurs. The Maison des Bateleurs is an open house that gives opportunities to the hosted young people to discover others, collective life style, to cross over language and social barriers and also to break prejudgment. In this project The Maison des Bateleurs will host 3 volunteers from Italy, Poland and Germany each for 12 months. The project supports the involvement of everyone to local life and the implementation of actions in favor of active citizenship in accordance with Solidarités Jeunesses value of solidarity, respect and peace. The project as well promote inter-cultural dialogue to develop European feelings and citizenship link to local realities. The volunteers will be involved in all aspects of the project. They will take part to the daily tasks needed to run the Maison de Bateleurs : all tasks link to the keeping of the house and into the animation of the house as “cultural hosting center”. Also they will be involved into the animation of the local life of the area by participating to cultural, social or environmental project in the villages near by. La Maison des Bateleurs offers young European volunteers the opportunity to discover another side of France, namely that of rural France, and will be able to contribute to local development and intercultural exchange in a unique context. Thanks also to the energy that these volunteers will invest in the daily life of the community, sharing their ideas and their culture with a population that is infrequently exposed to international activity, we believe that they will contribute a great deal to local development and that they will demonstrate a certain facet of youthfulness, namely that of youthful activity and solidarity.
