LA COMPETENCIA COMUNICATIVA, UN ENFOQUE INTEGRADOR

The overall objective of the project is the enhancement of communicative competence as a pedagogical principle and initially referred to the language skills of students through a wide range of activities of diverse nature and periodicity. The starting point of this project is the teachers´ concern about the results obtained by students in the Diagnostic Evaluation Tests . We have confirmed that the actions developed by the school library and by the language departments should go one step further and be undertaken as a project of innovation and improvement that include different courses of action combining the practice of language skills, the proper curriculum development in each subject and a methodological change in the treatment of the communicative competence. This project of improvement is also intended to help define and disseminate a certain image of the center with a multilingual and multicultural profile seeking international projection of its students. OBJECTIVES • To develop in students competences, skills and strategies to become readers able to understand, interpret and handle texts in various formats and media. • To develop in students competences, skills and strategies to become people capable of producing texts in various formats and media. • To develop in students the ability to communicate and express their feelings, interests, ideas and opinions in a variety of situations and contexts. • To develop in students a critical awareness, tolerance and empathy as a result of the contact with people from different cultures. • To systematize and integrate different language skills practices developed in the teaching departments. • To interact in an appropriate and creative way in different social and cultural contexts such as education and training, personal life, work and leisure. • To arouse interest and taste for reading and for the discovery of different forms of expression, communication and interaction with others and the approach to other cultures. • To provide learning experiences outside the classroom environment in which interest, participation, creativity and teamwork are guaranteed success for teachers and students. To achieve this goal the project includes different strategies: • Mobility of teachers to improve their communicative competence. • Mobility of teachers for training in teaching methodologies and languages. • Creating groups of teachers working as promoters of good practices and CLIL methodology. • Definition of the School Linguistic Project with the participation and involvement of all teachers through educational coordination bodies. • Systematization of student assessment to international certification procedures. STAGES The project will be carried out over two years. The teacher training will be distributed along this timeframe. The aim of this approach is to achieve a greater dynamism as experiences, practices and training will be provided regularly combined with the implementation of different educational proposals once developed and agreed.
