PROJECT
FINISHED
The project "Union is strenght", elaborated by Istituto Comprensivo "G.B. Nicolosi", in Paternò, tries to answer the need of finding a solution to the problems of social disadvantage and early school leaving, on which the school has been working for a long time. These problems are a difficult issues on our territory, afflicted by social plagues such as unemployment, emigration and distance of the families from educational agencies. The project idea has been generated by the conviction that a formative action aimed at acquiring new competences against early school leaving, needs cooperative integrated actions among different subjects with the same goal: promoting the students' human, civil and social growth. After a school research, together with partners operating on the territory , it has emerged the need to analyze and understand the phenomena more deeply, along with the necessity to carry out preventive actions. The choice of DAREIC Nizza as a partner has come out of the need to find European schools with our same problems connected to disadvantage and early school leaving. The agreement with the hoisting organization, has been reinforced by the mutual need to fight early school leaving in schools situated in problem areas, which is a common priority. The project has the following objectives:-Promoting more effective school actions against disadvantage and early school leaving through the early individuation of the risk factors causing the early school leaving, necessary condition to plan and activate supporting and effective interventions.-Training a staff, that may become leader not only inside the school, but also for the other education agencies of the territory;-building a model to share for effective long term interventions;-opening the school to a European dimension based on confrontation and exchange. The aim of this mobility project is to promote a useful exchange with other European agencies, which face the same problems, in order to find new motivations and new operative models to improve the quality of education, reinforce the professional profile of the participants, develop the competences of the school personnel in order to grant the school success of all and each student..The 15 participants will be selected among the whole school personnel and will be representative of the different grades and disciplines. They will include representatives of the Management and the Administration Office. They will be adequately trained and monitored to undertake the mobility experience, which will be achieved through a "job shadowing" project, that is the observation of operative models of another European country to find new stimuli, instruments and solutions to bring into our school reality. It will not simply be an observation visit, but a real exchange of experiences that will enrich the participants and the organizations with new operative perspectives. The expected impact on the participants is that they find new opportunities confronting other European realities, to carry out and share new didactic/organization/management models capable of fighting the problems of disadvantage and early school leaving at their roots and to prevent them, answering the "cry for help" of the students with difficulties in finding their place in the school. Through the various activities of dissemination the impact will extend from the two partner organizations to the territory and to all the interested organizations. The mobility experience will have a positive influence on the future good practice not only for the participants and the school members but for the entire territory. It will have a long term effect for the target groups (students, families, other schools, research institutions). From the start the school will activate actions of strategic cooperation among the members of the local community, in order to set all the organization conditions necessary to help improving actions. The chosen approach of this project is based on the organization learning through common actions both inside and outside the school for all the involved subjects. The entire organization will learn from the experiences and achieved results, that will be analyzed, evaluated and compared to generate further knowledge. This experience will continue after the project end in order to open up to further developments of longer term "reaserch-action" and formation.
