PROJECT
FINISHED
Our project, “The evolution and the use of social media, opportunities, limitations?”, proposes to think about the development of an intelligent use of these communication tools that exploded in the 2000’s : social networks, blogs , micro- blogs and wikis, photo sites and video sharing. Used daily, and sometimes intensely by young people, they can represent danger, be used in a harmful purpose ; but, in the other hand, they also allow the awakening of citizenship or creativity.
Europe sets out a strategy to promote optimal use of digital technologies by 2020, that’s why it is important that young people are aware of the importance of optimum and rational exploitation of ICT. Our project is part of this strategy, and also aims to increase European mobility, enhance the sense of belonging to Europe, develop the critical thinking and facilitate the communication and the cohesion between people.
The 24 young people of the group, Italians, Spanish and French, aged 14 to 18 years old, share this European awareness around the use of social media and networks. That’s why they want to meet each other, in order to share their thoughts et make them evolve, and to establish a set of good practices, reportable to the greatest number of people. They also want to express theses thoughts and develop their creativity in the stage of a multidisciplinary show, during their meeting.
The idea is to bring concepts and keywords about the use of social media during workshops, and then, translate them in an artistic form for the show.
The project is composed of three steps:
During the preparatory phase, each group will anticipate the meeting, and begin to think about the topic of the social media and social networks. Young people will imagine scenes to compose the show, and will prepare some activities in order to get to know each other, and to discover the culture of peers.
During the youth exchange, there will be different moments: workshops about social media and social network, creation of a website and regular writing on it, creation of the show, performance of the show for families and residents origin to Saint-Jean, sharing activities (games, quiz…) for group cohesion, discovery of Saint-Jean and Toulouse, and relaxation times.
After the exchange, young people will continue to write on the website. Moreover, they will design a photo and video exhibition, from pictures and shot made during the meeting. By showing these photos and videos to the public, each European group will be able to share his experience, and inspire them to live European projects.
The young people will be involved in the whole activities, permanently and actively. They will acquire or enhance skills of the non-formal education, in linguistics, technological, social and cultural development.
Through this project, we wish awake awareness on the importance, for young people, to develop skills in order to be able to work anywhere in Europe, and to contribute to the emergence of a European citizenship and solidarity society.
