The project "Kultur im Kiez - Ein Austausch zwischen einheimischen und geflüchteten Jugendlichen" was created in view of the current social and political situation and its challenges regarding the migration and refugee movement in Europe. Allover Europe it is the subject of fierce debate how to deal with it. Often the needs of refugees are no aspect in this discussion. Above all it is essential to talk about how to shape everyday life in the city, in the neighboorhood together, how to involve migrants/refugees in society.Therefor the project aims to bring young people together, who share the same neighboorhood (youngsters, who were born there, young migrants/young refugees) and get them in touch. They will be motivated to "capture" their neighboorhood with creative, artistic methods to (re)create their environment according to their ideas. This helps to reduce prejudice and promotes mutual understanding and the empowerment of the youngsters (by boosting their competences, their self-confidence, their self-efficacy).Within the European Voluntary Service the volunteer can become an active part of the project and contribute her ideas, interests and competences to the design of cultural education programmes. She can encourage exchange and implement own concepts.The programmes are designed participatory, inclusive creative and empowering to promote appreciation of diversity. A lot of different actitivies within the project are conceivable as streetart workshops, geocaching, movie night, street festival. For this purpose there will be a close collaboration with the French partner (exchange of experiences and methods) as well as with lots of local partners (especially in the neighboorhood).In the long-term we aim to influence and shape social discourse positively. We also intend to increase awareness for diversity, the needs of refugees, causes of migration and flight and social chances to develop a mutual perspective. Therefor it is very important to strengthen the competences and the self-confidence of the (young) people involved.
