Krok w przód czyli ciągłe doskonalenie się
Start date: Dec 31, 2014, End date: Dec 30, 2016 PROJECT  FINISHED

In the contemporary world we observe intensive changes in many aspects of our lives including professional life and education. Facing those challenges requires constant work in our approach to our students and their education. It is necessary to constantly improve the teacher-student relations as well as to continuously increase the competence of the teaching staff. It appears that the acquisition of such skills is possible inter alia by direct meetings with teachers from other countries and practical workshops. The cotemporary education system requires that students are taught practical skills at the European level and do not only rely on theoretical knowledge. This way of offering knowledge can only be ensured by teachers who themselves will be able to use their knowledge in practice. These skills can be acquired at a selected course and the contacts developed will give them a chance for further cooperation with other partners. In this way the school can get a European dimension. The project objective is to improve the skills of managing projects on intercultural exchange in Europe as well as to prepare the teachers of various subjects to teach in English. The skill to communicate in foreign languages, competencies related to information and communication technology and the ability to learn by exchanging experience are some of the most important competencies, needed by both the teachers and students of our school. Thanks to the projects initiated by training our school teachers, we will also gain social and civil competencies as well as the awareness of other cultures, which are all key elements in enabling adaptation to the labour market. Our actions prepare the students for active participation in the social life by developing their creativity, ingenuity and the practical implementation of the tasks set. We are also going to get our students involved in designing tasks, giving them a chance to choose and negotiate. Thanks to that the project will be introduced according to the latest trends in education (the constructivist approach), which fulfil the requirements both the students and teachers face in the modern world. Participating in the project will be ten teachers of various subjects (IT, science and foreign languages). They are interested in increasing their professional qualifications, the English language communication skills, as well as finding partner schools for international exchange. Selected will be active people who can work well in a team, for whom professional improvement is a way of increasing and maintaining motivation to work and a source of new ideas for improving the quality of their school performance. Long term benefits include mainly getting in touch with teachers from other European schools and realizing projects together, as well as enriching the schooloffer with subjects taught in English. Additionally , it is crucial to maintain a high level of English and encourage other teachers to look for appropriate courses which would suit their needs. We hope that summarising the activities of the teachers’ group at the teachers’ council meeting will become a stimulus to develop competencies of other teachers and will make similar projects possible in the future (it is common knowledge that creative individuals / small groups can inspire others to act). Our students will benefit from better qualified teachers with even bigger experience and as a result will become better prepared for adult life after graduating from school.
