PROJECT
FINISHED
Our 12-month long project aims to improve the competences of our English teachers in the field of foreigen language didactics and methodology and to encourage them to disengage from mere textbook work to give motivating and creative lessons on a daily basis. Ms Dickmeis, as a member of our English team, is going to take part in the professional development course of ISP (PIC 947018276) "Language and Practical Methodology: Creativity in the Classroom" in Portsmouth, England, to get new input and ideas in the name of the whole English team of our school. Ms Dickmeis has acquired certain competences through her studies and professional development already. Via the course, she wants to further broaden and enrich those competences. Throughout the schoolyear she will communicate her newly acquired knowledge to her colleagues e.g. in an English team meeting or a general staff meeting. Furthermore, she will allow her colleagues to sit in on her lessons and she will also make the new material available to them.Apart from that, Ms Dickmeis will try to contribute new ideas and methods from the course in one of the meetings "English as a continuum" where teachers from primary and secondary schools meet to improve the quality of teaching. Ms Dickmeis will take care of the practical and logistical aspects of the project herself. With respect to lifelong learning, we hope for a long-term improvement of our teaching quality by applying new methodological aspects to our English classes. Ms Dickmeis expects an intensive language training in close dialogue with excellent native language speakers and colleagues from European foreign countries. Like this, she will be able to improve her language skills. Besides, we estimate that our students will be motivated to become self-confident, independent, creative language users through the modern, creative teaching methods and that they will realize their improvements in that area, and will participate with a higher level of motivation in our English lessons. We are frankly interested in any further exchange with colleagues from other European countries or the probable development of other international projects as we would like to strengthen the European dimension in our daily learning.
