European youngsters of different cultures and nationalities are involved in a process of cultural interaction with the rural community in Eastern Brandenburg, 40 km out of the Berlin city borders. By exchanging and working with artists, cultural workers and ecological activists, they focus on developing products, events and offers that promote lifestyles of health and sustainability and that bridge the gap between rural and urban by implementing diversity. The ‘niche’ as a productive field needs the competences of initiative, entrepreneurial spirit, social engagement – and it needs the applied knowledge an efficient use of digital technologies as a communication and marketing tool. Creativity, design, cultural exchange is a major aspect in all steps of this project. Important is the training of language, expression and the reinforcment of self-efficency and resilience in the field of a cultural market that, as much as it grows, becomes harsher and more competitive. Learning to develop the special professional attitude, develop the capacity to withstand and/or assimilate at the right place and time, in order to use one’s own power without giving up one’s profile is the theme of a voluntary service as a CreActive learning process with landkunstleben.
