The project “COMPASS“, corresponding to EU Youth Strategy and Erasum+is initiated by young people as a response of their needs of:
- practical skills development,educational and professional orientation,conducted by successful entrepreneurs,opinion leaders, journalists,useful for young people originating from a Region,which faces economic and social challenges;
- overcoming the existing high rates of mistrust,lack of information and motivation of young people about the public environment’ opportunities and towards decision-makers on issues of concern to young people;
- raising public awareness on the crucial relation between demographics and entrepreneurship, youth employment and the impact of social entrepreneurship.
Total Number of participants-200
The profile of participants:170/200 will be young people aged between 15 and 19 years from Yakoruda,Gotse Delchev,Belica, Hadzhidimovo,Satovcha,Garmen, who are in a transition period from secondary to higher education,selected through a competition entitled "5 ideas for my personal development and the development of my region." More than 100 of them fall into the category of disadvantaged due to economic and geographical reasons, they fall into the category of disadvantaged because they come from families of a low social status of the so-called mixed regions with differences in ethno-religious composition.The rest of the participants will be youth workers, opinion leaders and decision-makers on issues of concern to young people from National Assembly, Ministry of education and science, Ministry of Youth and Sports, Ministry of Labor and Social policy, Regional Inspectorate of Education-Blagoevgrad,Employment Agency,representatives of the above mentioned municipalities.
The project includes 9 activities that could be divided into preparatory and organizational part of 3 days event in Blagoevgrad; an educational part, based on active, interactive and situational methods of non-formal education, contributing to participants’ personal development and social inclusion, as well as development of 4/8 Youthpass’ key competences; dissemination and analysis of results; preparation of the final report.
Youth will develop 4/8 Youthpass'competences:Communication in Mother tongue, Social and civic competences; Sense of initiative and entrepreneurship, cultural awareness and expression. Actively participating in the initiation and implementation of the current project, the young participants will be encouraged and will acquire the predisposition to be active citizens and participants in the social and political life of their country.
Concerning the results from the structural dialogue,the impact envisaged and the potential longer term benefits,the project will represent a real COMPASS for the decision makers on issues of concern to young people through:
1/improvement of communication policy towards young people,making institutional language more accessible for youth, explaining the existing opportunities for educational and professional Start Ups,outside of the challenging "bureaucratic and institutional labyrinth";
2/implementation of more innovative approach(the project suggested “model-compass”),which aims at increasing the level of information delivery, of orientation and young people motivation about the opportunities for active development and active start up-in higher education,employment and/or entrepreneurship, through:
*discussions with successful individuals, opinion leaders, entrepreneurs as well as students and academics in more desirable disciplines at the universities who will share their experience and points of view;
*presentations on the “Psychology of Success”,stimulating the successful personal, social and professional development, contributing to the social inclusion and decrease of youth unemployment rates.
3/initiation by youth of a Region branding process towards Social Entrepreneurship and Entrepreneurship of young people.
The key question of a region branding is related to thе: how effective is designed, what are the personal qualities of the initiator and is it based on a creative basis.Taking into account the demographic, economic and educational picture of Blagoevgrad, the project aims at Region branding towards youth entrepreneurship and social entrepreneurship as well as to initiate new model of personal, social-educational and professional’ young people orientation. The focus will be on Social entrepreneurship because it is related to the activities resolving social and public problems, generating at the same time a benefit for the entrepreneur.
In this way economically and geographically deprived Region could keep the young people there,as social entrepreneurship could be exercised by young people inspired by the unique combination which unifies the business and possibilities for social changes.
The recognition of model-compass and Region branding by decision makers will lead to their sustainability/implementation in other Regions.
