According to the most recent study of the Thuringian Ministry of Economy, Labour and Technology on the availability of skilled labour, there is an added demand of approx. 280.000 due to the demographic change and the growth of the economy. In order to counteract a shortage of skilled personnel, Thuringian SME are more and more looking towards training and employment of staff from other countries. The comparablity of European qualification modalities is indispensable for labour mobility. Thuringian playors responsable for vocational educationand training need a certain degree of intercultural experience and competencies in order to be able to adequately assess European qualifications and vocational educational systems and to raise the quality of their own professional training. The goal of the project “Training for the Future of Europe III” is to facilitate the comparability of European vocational qualifications through the exposure to other systems of vocational education, their methodology and contents, as well as the practical, intercultural exchange on subjects concerning this area of education. The project is geared towards reaching those who are concerned with vocational education, as well as those responsable for the planning and orientation within the field of vocational education and training in Thurinigia. This group of people has as yet not been sufficiently introduced to and prepared for the task of further internationalization of vocational training. The project especially aims at participants from the following branches: - processing industries - construction industry - mechanical engineering - automobile industry - administrative, commercial and IT-branch - hotel and catering services - nursing and health services - pedagogy - arts and crafts Goals and expected resuts: - study of educational systems and qualification in partner regions - comparison of vocational educational contents, techniques and methods with experiences in one’s own institution - exchange of experiences concerning new training methods and the integration of foreign applicants or employees - exchange of experiences concerning occupational orientation (transition school-profession) and cooperation between vocational college and industry - knowledge transfer of methods, practice and technologies - acquisition of new impulses for the creation of new educational contents and - personal education and development of the participant: enhancement of professional, linguistic, pedagogical and intercultural competencies, achievement of a model character towards trainees concerning the participation in mobility projects to facilitate upward mobility - networking with the visited partners for the planning and conduct of future transnational activities All long-standing or newly acquired partner institutions from the seven European regions concerned dispose of experiences with international projects and guarantee a quality implementation of the project The period of the stay abroad will be individually coordinated between the participant and the receiving organisation. The duration of stay can be from 1 to 3 weeks. Experience shows that longer stays are not feasible for the participants. The project applies for 20 possible deployments, singly or in groups.
