There are many teachers of Zygmunt Gloger Primary School Number 12 who are engaged with everyday school existence and focused on improving their competences and professional development. The projects that are available free of charge in the Municipal Centre of Methodological Consultancy do not always respond to the English teachers’ needs. The courses are conducted by Polish people. New issue requires to make an effort of the initiation of new approach. New regulations of Polish Department of Education concern decrease of the school age in the Primary School. In the compulsory schooling children aged 6 years will be obliged to start attending first class. In the Polish educational system of teaching foreign languages, English teachers face to implementation of the New Core Curriculum that requires to write the English test as the supplement of the Final Exam. These are new ideas, e.g. in Spain compulsory education of 6-year olds has worked since 1990.
Furthermore, the parents’ opinions included in the questionnaires show that schooling education do not meet their expectations. The parents underline low exam results, the need of the continuation Comenius Project. They are filled with fear and concern as a consequence of compulsory education from the age of six.
The main need of the English language teachers is to improve their teaching methods, gain some experience and achieve new competences in teaching 6 and 7 year olds who are tend to learn in one class.
