Tampere University Teacher Training Schools were integrated in 2012. It means that today the school consists of three levels: primary, junior secondary and upper secondary. The core challenges of the school are: teaching, teacher training, research and in-service training.
The vision of the school is to become an internationally known school that meets the challenges of the future. It is attractive and co-operative, the staff is service-orientated and competent and meets the challenges addressed in the vision of the University of Tampere .
The school is active to use the latest technology in pedagogical purposes. The results of research are used to serve education. International co-operation and networking are utilized at school.
This project is part of our vision. The goals that we have set for the future and that we are committed in, demand a lot of concrete work. The challenges are met by hard work step by step. Every member of the staff understands that we are supposed to change our ways of thinking and re-evaluate our values.
To fulfill our vision we work in teams. Every team has an important role to play to fulfill the future vision. The participants of the project work in different teams and have been prepared by the team with questions and tasks that challenge them to find all the possible information to develop the goals of the team. The participants bring the results of the learning period to their respective teams and are supposed to refine them to serve the goals of the school in order to meet the vision we have set for ourselves.
The main goals are: quality improvement, ICT, school assesment, international co-operation and networking paying attention to teacher training and student exchanges, curriculum and pedagogical development.
Mr Jari Aarnio is a teacher educator and former head of the Senior Secondary. His main interest is to form a network for student teachers and students in France. The school has a similar co-operation in Germany and UK.
Mrs Raija Lehtonen's ( teacher educator) main interest is physical education, curriculum and teacher training as the school has more and more student teachers in physical education
Mrs Arja Aalto-Laaksonen is focusing on quality work, challenge-based learning and ICT in pedagogical use.
All the participants are interested in developing the vision of the school. They also work in special teams of the school that aim on fulfilling the vision the school has set for the next few years.
The home teams of the participants set the goals, evaluate the results and utilize them to meet the common vision of the school.
