PROJECT
FINISHED
The idea for this project stems from the recognition of the need for better networking and developing the skills of people working in the youth sector, and to improve the services offered by youth structures, particularly in regard to supporting young people with fewer opportunities to develop skills and competencies both at personal as well as professional level.
Wanting to have a more holistic and comprehensive approach , this project contains three main activities .
A1 : Long term youth volunteering activity involving four partner organisations from Greece (coordinator and hosting organisation), Italy, Cyprus and Portugal (sending organisations) and 3 volunteers from Portugal, Cyprus and Italy that will come to Kalamata , Greece for a period of nine months from 09/01/2014 to 01/06/2015 .
A2 : Youth Worker's training and networking activity (job-shadowing) involving an organisation from Montenegro (sending ) and one from Greece (coordinator and hosting) as well as a youth worker, member of the sending organisation from Montenegro. The activity will be held in Kalamata , Greece from 01/07/2014 to 22/07/2014 ( 20 activity days ) .
A3 : Youth Worker's training and networking activity (job-shadowing) involving an organisation from Sweden (hosting ) and one from Greece (coordinator and sending organization), and a member and volunteer of the sending organization with experience both in working with young people with fewer opportunities, and in education using non-formal learning methods. It will be implemented in Ostersund Sweden and will last 30 activity days ( 01/07/2014 - 01/08/2014 ).
The methods and tools of non - formal learning will play a key role in the conduct of all three activities of the project, using a well- structured working programme aimed at meeting the needs and expectations of the participants and at developing their skills and competencies both at personal, as well as at professional levels.
The results we want to achieve through this project is two-fold. On the one hand, we want to foster the development of skills and competencies to the participants on both personal and professional level and the exchange of good practices, improving the services they provide as well as the development of cooperation and networking between partner organisations. On the other, to promote wider recognition of the importance of non - formal learning and the skills and competencies acquired through this , especially in regards to improving the position of young people in the labor market , and the significance of the work delivered by those working in the youth field .
In the long term, we hope this project to contribute to the development of the professionalism of organizations and individuals involved in youth work and to create a common policy for Youth and a wider recognition of skills and competencies acquired through non - formal learning both at European as well as at International level.
