Knowledge transfer to Improve Marine Economy in Regions from the Atlantic Area (KIMERAA)
Start date: Mar 31, 2010, End date: Mar 31, 2012 PROJECT  FINISHED

KIMERAA aims to develop niches of Excellence through the creation of bridges between the scientific knowledge and firms related with marine resources. To this goal is necessary to articulate knowledge transfer channels in the regions in the Atlantic area, connecting the different institutional actors that can intervene in the Marine Economy. The project tries to tackle the transnational problem, known as the European Paradox, the difficulty of European research to be transformed in profitable high added-value products. KIMERAA will promote a deeper understanding in maritime clusters, the innovation actors and institutions in Atlantic Area. Competencies and services catalogues in Marine Sciences and Clusters will be developed in all partner organizations to create a transnational web tool to match research capabilities with technology and product demands. Finally a European Network of Knowledge Transfer in Atlantic Area (ENKTAA) is going to be promoted in order to give sustainability to results beyond its ending. On the KIMERAA approach, mechanisms of KT refer to the creation of spin-offs, to the licensing of activities or to sponsored/collaborative projects, and are decisive to consolidate a network of partners that can create robust niches of excellence in maritime clusters that will impact significantly on the growth of regional economies in the Atlantic Area.Main Activities of the KIMERAA Project1. Maritime Clusters: Innovation Actors and Institutions in Atlantic AreaThe objectives of this activity are the identification and the analysis of actors and institutions that constitute innovation systems in Maritime Clusters and Marine Sciences in the Atlantic Area regions. 2. Conception of a Competencies and Services Catalogue in Marine Sciences and Clusters in Atlantic AreaThe general objective of this action is to create a common competencies and services catalogue in the field or marine sciences and maritime clusters in Atlantic Area for the development of specific niches of excellence by stimulating the matching between demand and supply of innovations. The specific goal is to create a web tool to be initially disseminated inside the partnership and them presented and disseminated to all relevant stakeholders. 3. Creation of the European Network of Knowledge Transfer in Atlantic Area (ENKTAA)The main objective of European Network of Knowledge Transfer in Atlantic Area (ENKTAA) is to connect the European Atlantic space and facilitate the provision and sharing of high quality knowledge in marine science, stimulating co-operation and strengthening the contribution of marine cluster and science to the economic, environmental and social achievement of Atlantic Europe. Achievements: The KIMERAA project has ended in 2014. The project transnational team acknowledges all kinds of efforts for the success in the implementation of this project. If you are interested in KIMERAA results or in cooperating in the domains of marine and maritime knowledge transfer, blue economy and maritime cluster dynamics, please contact the partners of KIMERAA. We will be actively involved and interested in new projects in these areas in 2014-2020.- See more at: http://kimeraa.eu
