KNOWLEDGE – Analysis and Comparative Study on Construction Inspection Job Performance Regulations. European Comparative Study.

The KNOWLEDGE project will review European VET provision aimed at building inspectors (all professional levels) with the aim of identifying any differences in current VET provision and of highlighting any gaps in provision with regard to the needs of this professional group. Following an initial mapping of job performance regulations for building inspectors in the participating countries, the project will establish common skills and training paths for the profession. Project partners will then focus upon current versus required levels of knowledge compared to existing training provision in each participating country, eventually leading to the development of a new training framework able to meet the identified gaps. The end results of the project will comprise a comparative, state-of-the-art study on skills needs, an outline of existing best practice, a model European training framework and proposals for a common system of certification for the profession. Project beneficiaries include vocational training bodies, national authorities and potential future employees in the construction sector (including recent graduates). In order to disseminate the project results, a dedicated website will be established, in addition to participation at relevant national and international conferences, the organisation of a series of national workshops and the publication of articles relating to project achievements.
