Background: Our school, Laurin koulu in Mynämäki, Finland is a comprehensive school with 52 teachers which provides basic education for 550 pupils. Language teaching in our school plays an important role within the global education and it aims at versatile language learning. The maximum number of pupils should have experiences of the use of several modern languages also using various information technology tools.
The aim of this project is to implement the municipal school curriculum and ICT strategy and to develop the school's culture. We want to contribute to both teachers' and pupils' ICT skills on language lessons and motivate pupils for learning languages efficiently. By supporting and adding Teachers' education chances we can continue to maintain and improve the methods of Language teaching. We want to maintain international relations that can be created for example during Language courses or Job Shadowing.
Participant for the project: a language teacher in German, Swedish and Spanish, in which subjects she is qualified. She has experience of international affairs management, visits and their arrangements , taking care of two Comenius assistantship projects and student exchanges, as well as organizing excursions.
Activities: in August 2015, Language and Methodology Course in Spanish for teachers of Spanish as a foreign language, updating methods also in the digital learning (Spain).
In November 2015, Job Shadowing in Austria. And accordingly receiving a Job Shadowing teacher from Austria to Laurin koulu in autumn 2015 or in spring 2016.
In June or July 2016, Language and Methodology Course in German for teachers of German as a foreign language, targeted for using internet tools in learning languages (Austria).
The participating teacher is committed to the training and to develop the school culture with the target on learning and teaching languages with versatile methods. Due to the Job Shadowing-period then teacher will become familiar with some school practices and work colleagues of an Austrian school, developing her own methodological capacities, as well as her language skills.
Impact and results: improved Language teaching methods , contacts with other schools. Improved language skills. Improving the students' assessment more versatile.
