In Magyar Gyula Kertészeti Szakképző Iskolában( Magyar Gyula Horticultural Vocational School) the agrarian and horticultural education has a history of more than 100 years. More precisely, this academic year (2014/2015) is the 113 one. During these years the school has become one of the best secondary vocational schools. This school have given numerous generations of excellent gardeners, park builders and florists. Moreover, during the years this institution has got one of the largest numbers of students. On the field of floristry our education is acknowledged in Europe. Magyar Gyula Kertészeti Szakképző Iskola has been taking part in Comenius and Leonardo mobility programmes for more than 20 years. The aim of the current application is that our students could use their knowledge in everyday life, and is manufacturing companies. Moreover, we would like them to get to know new, up-to-date knowledge, to make them able to see how horticultural education works in the hosting countries. And the third target is to make them improve their knowledge of a foreign language. Students who participate in park building and maintenance and ornamental plant gardener training study during their everyday training the hosting countries specific features. For example different types of paving stones in parks, their arrangements, flowerbeds and connected to these they also learn about the usage of colours and shapes of fixtures and plants. During the program students learn how the harmony of parks is created with the help of colours and shapes, how can proportions, symmetry and scale be represented as an important part of the whole. Besides the aesthetics of parks, students also study ways of growing plants, they also take part in trainings in production units where they widen their knowledge about plants. The other aim is that students who take part in out florist training get to know the hosting countries’ characteristics and tradition of floral arrangement. Especially they focus on how the unity of function and aesthetic is represented and created with colours. During their everyday practice they learn how to live up the hosting country’s expectations regarding communication with customers, making different products of floral arrangements according to the local traditions. Students are between 16 and22 years old. Amongst the 96 students there can be found 2*6 students with special needs.Students in their own home institutes after being selected are to have lessons on language, their vocation, culture and on mental health. As a part of preparation the students of the hosting school take part in organizing and executing the programmes of the Hungarian students. In this way our students get to know the students of the hosting institutes before they even start their scholarship. During the scholarship students take part in a premade and harmonized programme, which is followed by the hosting and the Hungarian coordinator’s attention. The experience students gain are to be written down. Using their notes students - after their homecoming- write a report illustrated with photos. Later on they give a presentation on this. These presentation will be seen on homepages of our school, the Makeszisz (Magyar Kertészeti Szakképző Intézmények Szövetsége)(Hungarian Horticultural Vocational Institutes) and Dsztt ( Association of Ornamental Plat and Board of Products). In the short run students who take part in mobility programs can use their experiences in Hungarian education as well, their knowledge of theory and practice widen immediately, and after writing the presentation competence on their profession, language and information technology will grow. On the final exam they can really benefit from their improved knowledge of language, and the widened experience of their trade. . In the long run the most important elements are that student thanks to a more –week –long training in abroad get to know up-to –date techniques, technologies, plant varieties, a different work ethic and a foreign language. Experiencing the Western-European work ethic is definite an advantage not only for the student but for the whole society as well. Another important effect of the programme is the Europass certificate. It makes finding a job easier either in Hungary or in Europe
