The Katelios Group for the research and protection of marine and terrestrial life will host EVS project in Katelios, Kefalonia, Greece. Two long term volunteers will come for 5 months and 8 short term volunteers for 2 months, all from Finland. The volunteers will spend the turtle nesting season in Katelios to help with the conservation of local environment and raising environmental awareness. They will help with practical activities concerning the conservation of the nesting habitats of turtles and monitoring nesting beaches. They will gain practical and social competences and the experiences staff of the hosting organisation will be supporting and monitoring their volunteering period . Volunteers will interact with locals and visitors to the area of Katelios, they will develop information to distribute on nesting sites and at the Katelios Group's Environmental Info Centre, they will talk to people about the importance of conservation of nature. The volunteers will live in close contact with the local community with other volunteers coming from all countries of Europe and the rest of the world. The volunteers will report on their non-formal learning experiences through social media for example Facebook and blogs.
