The purpose of the project was to increase the know-how of professional youth workers of the Finnish social and health care sector in dealing with immigrants of Russian origin and also to help them adapt to Finnish society. This would prevent the social isolation and exclusion of the immigrants, which again are the cause of drug and alcohol problems, for example. The intention was also to increase the procedural management of the work models that had been considered as good, such as drug stops and meeting places for young people both in Finland and the Republic of Karelia. The intention was to combine the individual working methods into a coordinated service entity. The project has been discontinued on the initiative of the applicant, since its implementation was funded by a separate national neighbourhood cooperation funding and thus did not need to be implemented as an Interreg project.
