We have chosen to use job shadowing as a method to develop and enhance our pre-school and the teaching we do there. We have chosen to send a pre-school teacher to Edinburgh UK to take advantage of their experience teaching children aged 4 to 6 years old. It´s because of the revised Swedish pre-school curriculum and the focus on math, science and technology which the Swedish government stresses as important that makes us believe that we need to develop our profession and skills. We believe that through the job shadowing we will be able to see how the teacher work and use their curriculum and their teaching skills. We also believe that it is better to be able to see how they work and discuss and ask questions to a teacher about teaching then to read about it. We believe that being able to observe and be able to ask questions about the difficulties and possibilities regarding teaching 4 year to 6 year olds will lead to a development of teaching skills and knowledge. We also hope that this will be a cultural exchange. We want this training experience to lead to the fact that we will be able to help children be prepared for school and that this will help them pass through school with good results and exams. We hope that this experience and the tradition of teaching we conduct in Sweden will be able to help our partners. We hope that our way of teaching with a lot of play-time and a child´s perspective were children have a lot of influence over what they do and a curriculum with goals to strive towards will benifit our partners.
