PROJECT
FINISHED
The project Jiggle-Juggle is a mobility project, short term voluntary service. The entire project lasts from 1st of July 2014 until 1st of September 2015 that is for 13 months. The services of the volunteers will last, each, 2 months. We will involve 6 volunteers, aged between 18 and 30, from France and Italy. They will join the services, two by two, one volunteer from each partner country. The first service will last from October to end of November. The second service will last from December to end of January and the third one will be from February to end of March. The following months of the project are designed for the evaluation and dissemination of the results.
The two partners involved in the project are Associazione di Promozione sociale JOINT from Italy and Pistes Solidaires Méditerranée from Marseille, France. The project is coordinated and hosted by Team for Youth Association, Romania.
The idea of the project belongs to all three promoters involved and came up during an APV meeting in Genoa, Italy, as a result of the needs of the sending communities to find hosting places in projects that address young people with no English language skills. For that, the main target group of our project are young people from France and Italy that have no competences in English and are motivated to work for improving that, in order to enlarge their job searching horizon. Also, we will host young people interested in working as animators for children of different backgrounds. The beneficiaries of the activities the volunteers will implement are children from Roma communities and children that are spending days or weeks in hospital due to some disease they are struggling with.
The main objectives of the project Jiggle-Juggle, coming from the needs of the volunteers but also from the needs of the children, are:
-To improve English competences from none to level A2, for a number of 6 volunteers, aged between 18 and 30, coming from Italy and France, for a period of 2 months of voluntary service each.
-To develop competences in social and clinic animation in working with children of different ages for the 6 volunteers involved in the project, during their two months voluntary services that will happen in 3 different series.
-To raise quality of education through social and clinic animation for a number of 80 children in Roma center and hospitalized in the regional Hospital, for a duration of 6 months that include 3 voluntary services hosted by Team for Youth Association.
The weekly schedule of the volunteers comprises the following activities: social animation in Roma center and in the kindergarten where Roma children go to, clinic animation in the hospital for sick children, Youth Pass evaluation meetings, English language lessons and Romanian lessons. Also, there will be sessions in which the volunteers will prepare step-by-step video tutorials on how to implement different animation games. The main methods used to implement the activities with the children are social animation (games for learning purposes on different topics) and clinic animation (activities to bring a smile on the face of sick children in the hospital, adapted to different needs they might have). The volunteers will get a training on social animation, on face painting, origami, juggling, and balloon twisting, to raise the quality of their activities with the beneficiaries.
On a long term, the project is aiming at raising awareness about the possibility to volunteer and learn at the same time, especially about the potential of raising motivation and skills in language learning, by joining mobility projects. At the end of the project, the volunteers will not receive only the Youth Pass certificate, but they will also fill in Europass language passport.
