Jean Monnet Chair on European Union’s Education, Training, Research and Innovation Policies

The development of the knowledge policies on Education, Training, Research and Innovation is essential for the EU 2020 strategic goals in order to ensure personal, social and professional fulfillment of all citizens, as well as sustainable economic prosperity and employability, whilst promoting democratic values, social cohesion, active citizenship, and intercultural dialogue. The Jean Monnet Chair on “European Union’s Education, Training, Research and Innovation Policies” (EduTRIP) will be based on the Department of International and European Studies of the University of Piraeus, Greece, first ranked in student preferences among its peers. It will reinforce teaching, research and dialogue on these crucial issues for both Greece’s and Europe’s development; new teaching opportunities will be offered to students and young researchers of all the departments as well as for primary and secondary teachers with the cooperation of the General Directorate of Primary and Secondary Education of Piraeus. New methodologies such as peer-learning activities, simulation exercises free online learning tools and ICT material produced by previous Jean Monnet activities will be also used. The Chair will tutor students and the young generation of teachers and researchers through her activities. She will also disseminate all the updated information on the EHEA and the ERA, placements, internships and research opportunities through workshops. The Chair will establish synergies between academia, business, stakeholders, the city of Piraeus and the civil society; it will be the first Jean Monnet Chair on these issues in Greece and the wider South East Europe and Mediterranean Area. Gender balance will be also assured among Jean Monnet Chairs within the University of Piraeus and Greece.
