The overall objective of the project is to promote a better understanding of the EU experience and its democratic processes with a view to contribute to strengthening the civil society in Russia, in particular at regional and local level. Specific objective is to focus on youth as an important social stratum in Europe and Russia with understanding of its role in a society from economic, political, social and cultural point of view. Jean Monnet Center of Excellence in Siberia will use well-established practices with its new special Focus on Youth: teaching within EU studies and outside of it (higher schools, regional universities, various departments); research and outreach. During time of the project there will be organized 1) international and regional conferences with special sections for young scholars; 2) summer school on EU topics for students outside of EU studies; 3) guest lecturing to the various regional universities that don’t have developed EU studies; 4) research projects that will focus on youth.Main outcomes will include but not limited to: 1) new didactical materials will be prepared to support teaching for various target-groups; 2) academic publication in form of articles, books and books review; 3) academic events with broad representation of young and established scientists; 4) students and staff exchange activities will support EU expertise and dialogue between EU and Russia.
