It's time to learn and share good practices

Our school operates in Piano Tavola- Belpasso, which belongs to four districts (Belpasso, Camporotondo Etneo, Motta S. Anastasia e Misterbianco); it is an area lacking of many important services. Families belong to a low-middle class and there is a lot of unemployment. The social dimension shows features of cultural poverty, thus the school is the only point of reference and sociality. The analysis of the context led to planning educative goals and quality of service, according to a planning and teaching efficiency, by implementing motivation in all the relevant players. Our school, wishing to project in a European dimension, wants to promote linguistic education and good practices in our job, addressing training courses and the acquisition of new skills abroad. Teachers involved working for some time in the school and belong to the three educational levels: some in positions of collaboration with the Headmaster of instrumental function and are involved in the Comenius project in progress, others are highly motivated professional growth and have a predisposition to relations and human contacts. Under this perspective, we believe that the training courses - "English Language Improvement for teachers"presso il Pilgrims, Canterbury, UK- Web 2.0 tools for effective teaching and project work" , the job shadowing and the seminar "Where are we on our way, Europe? Analysing PISA results seminar week" will contribute to: • Know teaching methodologies, strategies and good practices implemented by foreign teachers • Observe English language teachers and acquire different linguistic competences (speaking, writing, listening, vocabulary), starting from authentic material; • Carry out lessons in classes together with history and geography teachers about topics relating to Italy,; • Enrich and renew methods and techniques in the teaching/learning process; • Compare and analyze curricula, teaching papers and assessment systems ; • Know the school system, the organization of the host school and the implemented actions in order to face early school leaving; • Contribute to the creation of a permanent staff that will be in charge of the international relations institute. In order to carry out the job shadowing at Muzaffer Çil Anadolu Lisesi" in Eskişehir Turkey, the “Action-Research” approach was considered to be the best, since the main goal, within the school, is to improve the educational practices and to obtain knowledge and know-how from the direct experience and it offers to the involved player to actively partecipate in the learning process. All the activities were planned with the host school, particularly with the tutor who will support all the stages of the plan. The school, therefore, becomes the center of interest and a reference point for the promotion of training policies.
